WACO, Texas – Glenville State edge rusher
Jamair Diaz has become the first Pioneer to earn All-American status since 2019 as the Passaic, N.J. native was named AFCA Second Team All-American.
Diaz led all of Division II in tackles for loss (21.0) and tied for the nation's lead in sacks (12.0). Diaz was third in the MEC in forced fumbles with three and ranked third on the Pioneers in total tackles with 54. The Milford Academy product also added three QB hurries, two fumble recoveries and a pass breakup.
Diaz recorded two or more tackles for loss in six contests, including an impressive 5.0 TFL at Concord. He had four games where he totaled 2.5 TFL. He finished with a season-high 2.5 sacks at Emory & Henry and recorded two sacks in games against Concord and West Liberty. His eight total tackles versus West Virginia State was a season-high with two contests seeing him have seven tackles. Diaz earned MEC Defensive Player of the Week and D2Football.com Defensive Player of the Week with his performance at Concord on Oct. 19, where he totaled seven tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
