GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Women's Basketball team defeated Davis & Elkins 87-65 tonight in the Waco Center to secure their 16th victory of the season. GSU shot 42% from the field and forced the Senators into 35 turnovers in the win.
It took nearly two minutes for either squad to score the first points as Chalon Miles connected on a pair of free throws to get the Lady Pioneers on the board first. After GSU took a five-point lead with two minutes left in the 1Q, the Senators closed out the stanza on a 7-2 run to tie it up at 16 all. The second quarter looked much different for the blue and white's offense, scoring 24 points on 57% shooting from the field and four three-pointers. The strong end to the half helped the Lady Pioneers grab onto a 40-26 lead at the break.
Glenville then used nine free throws to have another solid offensive quarter in the 3Q, however D&E wasn't going away without a fight. The Senators trimmed the deficit to 10 with two minutes left in the quarter but the Lady Pioneers built it back to 15 by the end of the quarter. Glenville grew their biggest lead of the game (25) in the closing quarter before finishing out the Senators 87-65.
The Final Stats
Chalon Miles led all scorers with 22 points on 8-10 shooting from the field. Lauren Calhoun added 19 points and grabbed a team leading eight boards while Dream Cherry chimed in with 11 points. Sanaiya Morris led GSU in assists with six. She also added eight points in the win.
Taylor Smith had 15 points to lead the Senators, followed by Jaela Reid (11 points) and Kaylee Milburn (11 points). Jackie Wright had a near double-double, finishing the night with nine points and nine boards.

Glenville State will make the trip to Buckhannon on Saturday for a meeting with West Virginia Wesleyan at 2 p.m.
