Lady Pioneers Can’t Find Offensive Rythm in Loss at No. 19 Fairmont State

FAIRMONT, W.Va. - The Glenville State Women's Basketball team struggled to find their offensive groove in today's 82-51 loss at No. 19 Fairmont State. The Falcons shot 52% from the field and held the Lady Pioneers to a 31% shooting day from the field, as well as 3-20 (15%) from three. 

It was a quick start for GSU and FSU with Glenville State leading 13-12 at the first media timeout of the opening quarter. Fairmont held the Lady Pioneers scoreless for the rest of the quarter, helping them take a 23-13 into the second quarter. The Falcons began taking control in the 2nd, only allowing GSU to score seven points in the quarter and building their lead to 45-20 at halftime. 

The Fairmont State lead grew to 32 by the end of the third quarter (70-38) and the Lady Pioneers were able to outscore the Falcons 13-12 in the final quarter as FSU closed out their 82-51 victory. 

The Final Stats 
Hya Haywood and Chalon Miles both had 10 points to lead the Lady Pioneers. Miles and Lauren Calhoun led the rebounding efforts with five each and Miles had two assists to lead the team. Kamiyah Lyons recorded four steals in the loss. 

Alyssa DeAngelo led all scorers with 24 points on 10-14 shooting from the field. Katy Darnell closed the day out with a double-double (17 points, 12 rebounds) while Jalen Gibbs nearly had a double-double with 16 points and eight rebounds. Madeline Huffman had just two points but a team leading five assists.
