School Records Set for Pioneers at Cherry Blossom Invitational

ATHENS, Ohio – The Glenville State Track & Field teams set two new school records while piling up new personal bests across the board yesterday at the Cherry Blossom Invitational on the campus of Ohio University. 

NEW SCHOOL RECORDS 
Samantha Dawson recorded a new school record in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 13:25. Janae Scott threw 41.27m in the discus, setting a new school record while finishing 5th in the event. 

NEW PERSONAL BESTS 
The Women 
Brooke Warner PR'd in the long jump, finishing at 4.02m. 
MyKell Bowen placed 3rd in the javelin and recorded a new personal record at 31.67m. 
Kimberly Halsey once again tied her school record in the pole vault at 3.05m. 
Sara Lowe finished the pole vault at 2.45m, setting a personal record. 
Esther Oluade PR'd in the 200m dash (29.75) and the 400m dash (1:08). 
Jayden Cover also had PR's in multiple events with the 100m dash (13.99) and the 200m dash (29.39). 
Hannah Hill beat her old personal best in the 800m run, crossing the line at 2:26. 

The Men 
Marc Fernandez-Soler finished 5th and set a new personal record at 58.32 in the 400m hurdles. 
DJ English also PR'd in the 400m hurdles, finishing not too far behind Fernandez-Soler at 1:00. 
Isaac Slater ran to a new personal best in the 1500m run, crossing at 4:39 
Brady Layman finished the 3000m steeplechase at 11:28, setting a new personal best. 
Logan Fisher produced personal records in both the 200m dash (30.01) and the 400m dash (1:05). 
John Bowen's 3.90m finish in the pole vault was a new PR. 
The shot put event saw three Pioneers record new personal records in Brandon Bowie (14.56m), Casey Mahoney (12.51m) and Adam Burnside (10.26m). Mahoney also PR'd in the discus with a throw of 38.60m. 
Michael Clay threw to a new personal record in the hammer throw at 41.57m. 
Euan Kettle's 32.25 javelin performance was a new personal best as well as his 1.55m finish in the high jump. 

Up Next For The Pioneers 
The Pioneers head to West Virginia Wesleyan on Friday for the Jasmine Claggett Memorial Invite.
