WHEELING, W.Va. - The Glenville State Men's Golf team capped off the MEC Spring Championship this evening, finishing 2nd behind Charleston (A Team) in the final rankings. With the completion of the championship, awards have been given out to Pioneers.
Benjamin Fernandez took MEC Freshman of the Year, leading the Pioneers at the MEC Fall Championship and taking 1st at the MEC Spring Championship, winning with a (-10) final score. Fernandez led after day one at (-7) and completed today at (-3). He was also an All-MEC First Team selection.
John Lilly took home MEC Coach of the Year, producing the MEC Freshman of the Year, an All-MEC First Team selection and an All-MEC Second Team honoree (Juan Monckeberg) as well as a 5th place finish during the Fall Championship and 2nd in today's Spring Championship. Juan Monckeberg was selected to the All-MEC Second Team following a T-3rd finish at (-4).
