GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State athletes Janae Scott and Fabian Escalante have been named Pioneers of the Week, the GSU Athletic Department announced today. 

Scott won the shot put title at the Mountain East Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship this past week, throwing 13.17m. Scott also earned points for the Pioneers in the hammer throw, placing 4th with a throw of 41.98m. She then had a podium finish in the discus, placing 3rd and taking the bronze medal at 41.18m. 

Escalante went 5-13 (.385) over the weekend, hitting two home runs and driving in eight runs. Escalante had two games of two hits with his best performance coming on Sunday in game three of the series versus Concord when he went 2-3 with a home run and 5 RBI. He helped lead GSU to a split with the Mountain Lions and secure the No. 2 seed in the South Division for the MEC Tournament.
