FAIRMONT, W.Va. - Glenville State wrestler Nick Johnson has been selected as the 2025-26 Mountain East Conference Male Athlete of the Year, the league announced on Monday.
Johnson, the 2025-26 Mountain East Conference Wrestler of the Year, posted a 30-2 record during the season at 197 pounds.
He earned his second All-American honor at the 2026 NCAA DII Championships, closing out his redshirt junior season as the national runner-up.
Additionally, Johnson captured individual championships at the Midwest Classic, MEC Championships and NCAA DII Super Region III Championships.
Glenville State finished as the runner-up at the 2026 MEC Championship, with three student-athletes capturing individual titles. The Pioneers carried that momentum into the postseason, winning the NCAA Division II Super Region III Championship and qualifying six wrestlers for the NCAA Championships. GSU capped its historic 2026 campaign with a program-best seventh-place finish at the national championships while tying the school record with four All-Americans.
The MEC Male Athlete of the Year is selected by a vote of institutional administrators and the conference office.
