Preview: Women’s Soccer Travels to Roberts Wesleyan on Wednesday; Hosts West Virginia State on Sunday

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Women's Soccer will travel to Rodchester, N.Y. tomorrow (Sept.11) to take on Roberts Wesleyan in a non-conference matchup

THE OPPONENT
ROBERTS WESLEYAN

2024 Season
The Red Hawks enter (2-0) after defeating Lake Erie College and Ohio Dominican at home.  RWU finished the 2023 season (10-3-3, 6-0-2 ECC), ending their season with a loss to Southern New Hampshire in the NCAA Tournament.

Quick Look at The Red Hawks
Jeff Vieira will be coaching his third game as the HC of the Roberts Wesleyan Women's Soccer program after serving as an assistant coach for six seasons. Alyssa Hackett leads the team in goals this season with two, followed by Kara Choate and Ella White with one goal apiece. Leading the team in assists are Alyssa Hackett and Kara Choate with one assist each. Nicolette Knauf leads the team in saves with eight on the season.  

WEST VIRGINIA STATE
2024 Season
The Yellow Jackets enter (0-1) with a loss to Bloomsburg at home. Before traveling to Glenville, West Virginia State travels to Salisbury, N.C. to take on the Catawba Chiefs on Wednesday (Sept. 11). WVSU finished the 2023 season (11-6-3, 9-3-3 MEC) as they ended their season with a loss to University of Charleston in the semifinals of the MEC Tournament.

Quick Look at The Yellow Jackets
Brandon Slewa enters his second season as the HC of the West Virginia State Woman's Soccer program. Six Yellow Jackets are tied for shots on goal with one SOG each. Laura Galindo leads the team in saves with three on the season.

Glenville State started off the season (1-0) after defeating Lake Erie College, 2-0, Sunday at the Morris Stadium.

Graylin Floyd Leads the Pioneers in goals this season with two. The assist leader for GSU is a tie between Noellia Garcia and Aitana Viejo with one assist each. The save leader for the Pioneers is Lucia Lopez with 3 saves on the season so far.
