GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Men's Basketball team bounced back on the road at Wheeling tonight with an 88-72 victory over the Cardinals. The Pioneers record increases to (9-6, 4-4 MEC).
In the first half, the Cardinals would gain a quick four-point lead, trying to set the tone for the game. The Pioneers tried to fight back, but the Cardinals offense gave them a nine-point lead five minutes into the half. The Pioneers soon found their groove on offense and would diminish the Cardinals lead within a couple minutes. The Pioneers ended the half on a 16-4 run to give them a fourteen-point lead at halftime, 40-26.
In the second half, the Pioneers looked to pick up where they left off, but the Cardinals wouldn't give in immediately. Just three minutes into the half, the Cardinals would cut the Pioneers lead to just five points. The Pioneers stayed resilient as they put together a 14-5 run to get their double-digit lead back. The Pioneers lead would climb to as much as twenty-one points. The Pioneers eventually closed out the Cardinals with a 16-point win, 88-72.

The Cardinals were led in scoring tonight by Jerry Saunders Jr., who had 12 points. Alex Smith and Sean Ealy contributed 10 points each in the loss. On the boards, the Cardinals were led by Curtis Harrison IV's eight rebounds. Ealy led the team in assists tonight, assisting on seven scores. The Cardinals defense was spearheaded by Alex Smith's five steals and Tee Harris' one block.

Devin Collins returned to the floor tonight for the Pioneers, scoring 23 points while freshman Don Colon-Lewis poured in a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Freshman Ammar Maxwell also contributed offensively with 13 points of his own and 12 boards.. Dominiq Penn led the team in assists tonight with three while the.defense was led by Colon-Lewis' four steals. Four different Pioneers had one block each as well.
