GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State athletes Nwando Okigbo and Ammar Maxwell have been crowned GoMart Pioneers of the Week, the GSU Athletic Department announced.

Okigbo, a freshman out of Anambra, Nigeria, averaged a double-double to help lead the Lady Pioneers to two victories last week. Okigbo posted 19.0 PPG, 10.5 RPG, 3.0 APG, 1.0 SPG and 1.0 BPG in wins over Wheeling and West Liberty. Against the Cardinals, she scored 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting with seven rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block. Versus the Hilltoppers, the 6-foot guard recorded 16 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal.

Maxwell, a true freshman out of Beckley, W.Va., averaged 17.0 PPG, 10.0 RPG, 2.5 APG and 1.0 BPG against Wheeling and West Liberty last week. In the Pioneers win versus Wheeling, Maxwell posted a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, adding two assists and a block. Against No. 10 West Liberty, the Shady Spring HS product finished with 21 points on 50% shooting, eight rebounds, three assists and one block.
