GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State athletes
Nwando Okigbo and
Nick Pitchford have been selected
GoMart Pioneers of the Week, the GSU Athletic Department announced.
Okigbo, a true freshman from Anambra, Nigeria, helped the Lady Pioneers go (1-1) this week, notching two double doubles and averaging 15.0 PPG, 15.0 RPG, 3.5 APG, 2.0 BPG and 1.5 SPG. In a loss to WVSU, she had 13 points and 11 rebounds with four assists, three blocks and one steal. Against Concord, she led GSU to victory with 17 points, 19 rebounds (ties season-high), three assists, one block and two steals.
Pitchford, a true freshman out of Eleanor, W.Va., broke the school record in the 1-mile race with a time of 4:19.77, which got him 7th place in the meet. The Buffalo High School product also moved into second all-time in the 800m run with a time of 1:59.48, placing 19th out of 52 runners.
