Strong Second Half Lifts Pioneers Past PSU Mont Alto

GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Men's Basketball team defeated Penn State Mont Alto Saturday afternoon, 75-53, inside the Waco Center. This is the Pioneers third consecutive victory, bringing them to (7-5) on the year. The loss drops the Nittany Lions to (10-3) on the season.

The first half was tightly contested from tip-off. The Nittany Lions and Pioneers exchanged the lead seven times in the opening 10 minutes with neither side gaining a solid advantage. This jockeying would continue until the four minute mark as Glenville State found their groove via a 6-0 run to close out the half. The Pioneers entered the locker room up 33-27.

This lead was one that the Pioneers would not relinquish, as they increased the lead to double digits shortly after the beginning of the second half. Utilizing a combo of points in the paint and drawing fouls, Glenville State continued to outpace Mont Alto, outscoring the opposition by 16 points in the second half. The Pioneers used this attack to distance themselves and win their first contest of the new year, 75-53.
