FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Glenville State Women's Soccer had their 2025 season came to a close Sunday (Nov. 9) evening as the Pioneers fell 3-0 to top-seeded Fairmont State in the Mountain East Conference Quarterfinals at Duvall-Rosier Field.
1st Half
Fairmont opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Emelly Chicas found the back of the net off an assist from Valentina Gianinetto, giving the Falcons an early edge. Despite sustained pressure from the hosts, goalkeeper Anjolie Colon kept Glenville in contention with several key saves before the break.
2nd Half
The Falcons extended their lead in the 58th minute as Gianinetto converted a chance created by Montserrat Diaz, making it 2-0. Fairmont later sealed the result in the 90th minute when Braylyn Sparks added a late goal, again assisted by Diaz.
Final Stats
Fairmont held a 27-1 advantage in shots and 10-0 edge in corner kicks. Colon recorded 12 saves in her final appearance of the season, standing tall against one of the league's most potent offenses.
The 2025 Season
The Pioneers finish the 2025 campaign with a (6-12-1) overall record and (5-9-1) in MEC play, marking their strongest offensive season to date and another year of growth under the program's continued rebuild. The 2026 season looks to have much of the Pioneer offensive production back, setting up another exciting season.
