Lady Pioneers Win Overtime Thriller at Frostburg State

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneer Women's Basketball team won an overtime thriller on Saturday (Dec. 13) afternoon at Frostburg State in Mountain East Conference action, 94-93. GSU is now (6-2) overall and (3-1) in conference play.

1st Half
The first quarter was low scoring and neither team could build a lead as they traded baskets back-and-forth. Scores from Carine Pinkney, Stevi Yancy, and threes from Jayda Allie and Khalia Bryant kept the FSU lead at just two, 18-16. In the second quarter, the points were going each way once again as scores from Nylah Davis and Nwando Okigbo had the Frostburg State lead at one at the halftime break, 42-41.

2nd Half
Glenville State outscored the Bobcats by two in quarter three, behind Ashlyn Riley's three pointer to give GSU a two-point lead early in the second half and a layup from Pinkney at the buzzer to give the Lady Pioneers the advantage. In the fourth stanza, Glenville State scored the first six points to build a seven-point lead, however, a nine to three run over the last three minutes of play forced overtime at 87-all.

Overtime
A low-scoring five-minute period saw FSU take a one-point lead after a made free throw, but a three-pointer from Davis and a layup from Yancy put the Lady Pioneers up one. On the final possession, GSU forced a turnover to hold on for the victory, 94-93.
