GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State athletes
Carine Pinkney and
Jalen Knott have been selected as the GoMart Pioneers of the Week, the GSU Athletic Department announced.
Pinkney, a senior guard on the Lady Pioneer women's basketball team, averaged 14.0 PPG, 2.0 RPG, 2.0 APG and 1.0 SPG in Glenville State's back-to-back wins over Salem and UVA Wise. The Salem transfer had 13 points, three assists and two rebounds against her former team before dropping 15 points in the Lady Pioneers impressive win versus Virginia Wise.
Knott, a former Alderson Broaddus and Central Missouri transfer on the men's basketball team, helped lead the Pioneers to a (2-0) week with averages of 26.5 PPG, 4.0 APG, 3.5 RPG and 3.0 SPG while pouring in 11 three-pointers. In GSU's blowout win at Salem, the 6-foot-2 guard logged 22 points, six assists, four steals and three rebounds on 50% shooting. He had his best showing in Saturday's (Dec. 20) overtime thriller at Bluefield State, scoring 31 points with four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
