THE OPPONENTS
FAIRMONT STATE (6–1, 3–0 MEC)
2024–25 Season Recap
Fairmont State finished last year as one of the top programs in the nation, reaching the NCAA Atlantic Regional and earning high preseason respect entering 2025–26. The Falcons were selected Preseason No. 1 in the MEC, returning elite production and adding depth to an already stacked roster.

2025–26 Season So Far
Fairmont State has opened the year (6–1) overall and (3–0) in MEC play, with its only loss coming on the road at No. 4 Daemen, one of the toughest environments in all of Division II basketball. Every other game has seen the Falcons win by double digits and continue to play like a top contender in the Atlantic Region. They average 89.9 points per game, shoot 49% from the field, and are undefeated at home while proving they can win physical, high-scoring battles.

Quick Look at The Falcons
Fairmont brings one of the most balanced lineups in the MEC:

  • Drey Carter (16.3 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 67% FG) – One of the most efficient bigs in the league.

  • Miguel Martinez (13.0 PPG, 19 made threes) – High-volume perimeter threat.

  • David Jolinder (12.6 PPG, 5.6 RPG) – Do-it-all wing who thrives in transition.

  • CJ Meredith (10.7 PPG, 48% from three) – Elite floor spacer.

  • Tyheil Peterson (10.1 PPG, 95% FT) – One of the best free-throw shooters in NCAA DII.

Fairmont is deep, physical, and extremely efficient. Glenville State will need another strong shooting night and defensive discipline to hand the Falcons their first conference loss.

FROSTBURG STATE (3–4, 1–1 MEC)
2024–25 Season Recap
Frostburg State battled through an up-and-down season last year but returned several key starters and added capable role players. They've already shown they can score at a high level in 2025–26.

2025–26 Season So Far
The Bobcats are averaging 96.2 points per game, making them one of the highest-scoring teams in the MEC. They have played in shootouts nearly every night and enter the week after a 108–94 loss to Davis & Elkins.
The story of the team so far?
Mike Montano — 29.0 PPG, 12.0 RPG, 56% FG
Montano has emerged as one of the biggest stars in the entire conference, putting up video-game numbers through seven games. The 6'6 forward can score from everywhere and is the focal point of Frostburg's attack.

Quick Look at The Bobcats

  • Trey Simmons (18.9 PPG) – Lightning-quick guard who draws fouls and scores in bunches.

  • Mitch Finefrock (13.7 PPG, 24 made threes) – Elite shooter from deep.

  • Kyle Whippen (13.0 PPG, 8.4 RPG) – Powerful interior presence.

  • Chase Whippen (8.0 PPG) – Efficient and skilled in short-roll actions.

Frostburg wants to turn the game into a track meet, ranking among the highest-tempo teams in the conference. Saturday will be a major challenge defensively for the Pioneers

THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE (4–3, 1–1 MEC)
2025-26 Season
Glenville State enters Week 2 of MEC play with confidence and momentum, fresh off a 99–92 victory over West Virginia State that showcased the Pioneers' offensive firepower and the depth of their experienced core. GSU is undefeated at home (3–0) and has already shown it can score with anyone in the league, averaging 84.0 points per game on 45% shooting.

This group was picked fourth in the MEC Preseason Poll, its highest projection in years, and through seven games the Pioneers have looked every bit like a top-tier contender.

Quick Look at The Pioneers

  • Elijah Redfern (18.9 PPG, 46% from three) – The engine of the offense and one of the most efficient backcourt scorers in the conference.

  • Jalen Knott (16.3 PPG, 22 made threes) – A momentum shifter who can change a game in seconds when he gets hot.

  • Prince Mosengo (13.1 PPG, 8.1 RPG, 66% FG) – One of the MEC's toughest interior matchups; elite finishing and relentless rebounding.

  • Don Colon-Lewis (11.9 PPG, 39 rebounds) – A physical wing who contributes everywhere: shooting, defense, and extra-possession effort plays.

  • Ammar Maxwell (11.6 PPG, 56% from three) – Versatile, efficient, and improving weekly; a matchup problem when he spaces the floor.

When Glenville State shares the ball, runs in transition, and controls the glass, they look like one of the most dangerous teams in the MEC. With two major tests this week against Fairmont State and Frostburg State, the Pioneers have a chance to announce themselves as serious contenders in December
