Lady Pioneers Routed by No. 25 Falcons at Home

GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Glenville State Women's Basketball team dropped a home contest to Fairmont State Saturday afternoon, 91-49. The win brings the 25th ranked Falcons to (17-3) overall and (11-2) in MEC play, while the loss settles the Lady Pioneers to (13-7) on the year and an (8-5) conference record.

The Falcons started hot out of the gate, shooting over 80% from the field, including three three pointers and seven made free throws. The Lady Pioneers were not so lucky, shooting 33% in the first quarter with these trends landing Fairmont State in a 38-14 advantage after the first break. The second quarter saw a similar flow with the Falcons making 50% of their shots while Glenville State struggled to get shots to go down. The halftime buzzer led the visiting team into the locker room with a 62-22 lead.

The second half had a result much like its predecessor as the Lady Pioneers struggled to make up ground. Though Glenville State would find more offensive efficiency, Fairmont State continued to hold the pace in the third quarter, extending their lead and holding themselves in front at the buzzer, 77-34. The 4th quarter continued in the same fashion as the first three with the Falcons securing a 91-49 win by the final horn.
