GLENVILLE, W.Va. - The Lady Pioneers were defeated this afternoon by West Virginia Wesleyan, 83-73 after an explosive fourth quarter by the Bobcats. The loss brings GSU to (15-9) on the season, while Wesleyan improves to (17-6).
The first quarter saw a tightly contested back-and-forth battle, with six lead changes resulting in a 13-11 advantage at the first buzzer. Glenville State would start to find their groove in the second quarter, attacking the basket and increasing their lead to as much as 11. Wesleyan pushed back in the waning first half and decrease the lead to six at the halftime break.
The second half started smoothly for the Lady Pioneers, again finding themselves with an 11 point advantage before the Bobcats found their offensive stroke and chipped away at the deficit. The game tightened as the 3rd quarter closed and a buzzer beater deep ball secured the Lady Pioneers a seven-point lead into the final period.
Wesleyan really pushed it offensively in the fourth quarter as Glenville State went cold, only shooting 28% from the field compared to the Bobcats' 78%. Glenville State was ultimately unable to overcome the attack and would fall 83-73 as the final buzzer sounded.

Sophomore guard Sydney Baird led the way for the Bobcats with 27 points to go along with a team leading four assists. Senior guard Shelby Genes turned in 21, while forwards Desiree Roy and Emma Witt rounded out the double-digit scorers with 14 and 12, respectively. Witt led the team15 , grabbing 15 rebounds with Roy also recording 10.

Senior guard Tynasia Bunting led the way for the Lady Pioneers with 19 points. Freshman guard Nwando Okigbo recorded 14 points and led the squad in rebounds with nine. Senior guard Jade Salters rounded out the double-digit performers with 13 and junior guard Mycala Carney contributed eight. Senior guard Dream Cherry was the assist leader with four on the day.
