Second Half Surge by Hilltoppers Too Much for Pioneers

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The Glenville State Men's Basketball team fell on the road at red hot #8 West Liberty tonight,106-89. The Pioneers fall to (14-11, 8-9 MEC).

In the first half, the Hilltoppers started the game on an 8-0 run, eventually growing their advantage to double digits six minutes into the game. A15-4 run would bring the Pioneers back and give them a one-point lead. GSU kept this lead through the half and would go into the locker room with a three-point lead and a score of 47-44.

In the second half, West Liberty quickly tied the game up on their first offensive possession. Both teams would go back and forth for a couple minutes until the Hilltoppers started to gain the lead. The Pioneers would get the drain the WLU lead to one possession multiple times but a 7-0 run from the Hilltoppers increased their advantage to nine points. The Hilltoppers lead continued to climb and after a couple big shots, it quickly became a 20-point game, The Pioneers were unable to mount a comeback, falling to nation's #8 team, 106-89,

The Hilltoppers were led tonight by Dante Spadafora, who had 29 points and two steals in thevictory. JJ Harper finished the game with 13 points, five rebounds, five assists, two blocks and three steals. Lanyc Shuler contributed 12 points, three rebounds, six assists and three steals. Three other Hilltoppers had 11 points apiece.

The Pioneers were led in scoring by Devin Collins, who had 15 points. Freshman Elijah Redfern and senior guard Samier Kinsler each had twelve points tonight. Freshman Don Colon-Lewis had a double-double with eleven points and eleven rebounds while fellow big man Prince Mosengo finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. Gus Eddy contributed seven points, four rebounds and three assists in the loss.
