Barr & Pitchford Make History as Pioneers Open Outdoor Season in Record-Breaking Fashion

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Glenville State Track & Field teams kicked off the outdoor season this weekend at the University of Charlotte in the 49er Classic, breaking a school record and shaking up four all-time lists plus a plethora of personal bests. 

NEW SCHOOL RECORD
Natalie Barr broke the school record in the 1500m run with a time of 4:44.34, which is also a personal best!

FASTEST TIME SINCE 1988
Nick Pitchford moved into second all-time and ran the fastest time in program history since 1988 in the 1500m run, crossing the line at 3:56.97.

ALL-TIME LISTS
Jenna Barnett's 5:06.34 in the 1500m run puts her third all-time.
Jordyn Taylor boosted herself to second all-time in the pole vault at 3.11m.
Aaron Kupfner moved into fourth all-time in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.86.

NEW PERSONAL BESTS
Women
Ivanyeli Martinez-De La Paz PR'd in the 100m dash (13.55) and the 200m dash (28.77).
Bella Torres also set a PR in the 200m dash at 27.22.
Savannah Cunningham ran to a new PR in the 400m dash with a time of 1:03.82 and in the 800m run at 2:28.01.
Bella Skeens notched a personal best in the 400m hurdles at 1:11.23.
Brianna Browning threw for a new PR in the discus at 35.55m.
Addy Cottrill PR'd in the javelin (27.78m) and the shot put (12.07m).

Men
Nick Pitchford also set a PR in the 800m run and placed 9th with a time of 1:55.09.
Braden Hashman PR'd in the 110m hurdles (15.36) and the 400m hurdles (1:01.34).
Bruce Williams (22.47) recorded a new PR in the 200m dash.
Kyle McMillion had a new personal record in the 200m dash (23.34) and the 400m dash (53.91).
Caden Davis PR'd in the 800m run at 2:03.60.
Ian Strader tied for 3rd and set a new personal best in the high jump with a jump of 1.86m.
Jeremy Taylor (46.35m) and Michael Galaviz (42.46m) both had personal records in the javelin.

HIGH PLACEMENTS
Natalie Barr took 6th out of 60 runners in the 800m run, finishing at 2:16.45.
Janae Scott finished 6th in the discus with a throw of 41.53m.
Aaron Kupfner was 6th in the 110m hurdles at 15.13 and his 400m hurdles time was good enough for 4th in the meet.

The Pioneers will be back in action on Friday (Mar. 28) at West Liberty for the Tom Weaver Invite.
