CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Glenville State Men's Golf team had two athletes earn All-Conference as the Pioneers finished 4
th at the MEC Spring Classic in Charleston this week.
ALL-CONFERENCE
Fermin Perez Santandrea, a freshman out of Tandil, Argentina, made his mark early as a Pioneer with his All-MEC Second Team selection. Santandrea led the way for GSU during the MEC Fall Championship, shooting +12 and finishing 16
th overall. At this week's MEC Spring Classic, he shot +16 and placed 18
th.
Bumin Choi, a senior out of Wanjugun, South Korea, is an All-MEC Honorable Mention selection for the second time in his career after being selected during the 2022-23 season. Choi shot +18 in the MEC Fall Championship but had an even better showing at the MEC Spring Classic, placing tied for 13
th and shooting +15. Choi jumped 25 spots to claim 13
th after the first round, going +14 in round one but bouncing back mightily with a +1 in round two.
THE PIONEERS
Gervasio Leyes was also tied for 13
th as the freshman was in first place after the first round, finishing the MEC Spring Classic at +15.
Fabricio Meza was 29
th (+20) and
Segundo Del Carril (+22) rounded out the Pioneers with a 36
th place finish.
Ethan Hardy (48
th) and
Mathias Nunez (71
st) also competed.
