BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Glenville State Men's Basketball stars
Devin Collins and
Ammar Maxwell have landed on the league's All-Conference teams, the MEC announced today. Collins landed on the All-MEC First Team while Maxwell was an All-MEC Second Teamer.
Collins, a graduate student from Chapmanville, W.Va., was an Honorable Mention selection a year ago. The 6-8 forward played in 22 games with 19 starts for the Pioneers this season, averaging a team-leading 15.2 PPG with 5.1 RPG and 1.3 APG. The sharpshooter led the league in 3PT% at 45% while knocking down 61 three pointers on the season. In addition to his phenomenal three-point shooting, Collins was top 10 in the league in FG% at nearly 47%. He reached double figures in all but four games, dropping a season-high 26 points against Concord in late January.
Maxwell, a true freshman out of Beckley, W.Va., burst onto the scene this season for the Pioneers, starting in all 28 games and averaging 14.2 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 2.4 APG and 1.1 SPG. The Shady Spring HS product led the team in minutes per game (32.5 MPG) and field goal percentage (57%) while being third on the squad in 3PT% at 43%. The 6-4 forward scored double digits in all but seven games, including 14 of his last 15 games. Maxwell notched six 20+-point performances, tying his season-high of 23 points against Davis & Elkins and West Virginia Wesleyan.
