Men’s Basketball Tabbed T-2nd in MEC Preseason Coaches Poll

10/20/2026 5:30:00 PM

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Glenville State Men's Basketball is voted to finish T-2nd in the Mountain East Conference this season, the league announced today. It's the highest ranking for the Pioneers in the MEC Preseason Coaches Poll history.

The defending champions of the league are picked to once again win it as West Liberty totaled 11 first-place votes and 121 points. The Pioneers grabbed the remaining first-place vote and 101 points to tie with Fairmont State. Charleston finished not too far behind with 98 points. Wheeling (84 points), Concord (61 points), Frostburg State (56 points), West Virginia State (47 points), Shawnee State (46 points), Davis & Elkins (43 points), Point Park (23 points) and West Virginia Wesleyan (11 points) finished the poll.

Glenville State finished fourth in the MEC last season, going (18-12) overall and (11-9) in MEC play. The Pioneers advanced to the semifinals of the league tournament, falling to eventual champion, West Liberty, in double overtime.

Bob Bolen is in his fourth year as the head coach of the Pioneers and he returns a bulk of his production from a season ago. All-MEC Second Team performer Elijah Redfern headlines the returners after averaging 16.3 PPG, 4.0 RPG and 3.8 APG in 2025-26. Big man Prince Mosengo (12.8 PPG, 8.6 RPG), Don Colon-Lewis (12.4 PPG, 7.3 RPG) and Ammar Maxwell (10.8 PPG, 4.2 RPG) all averaged double figures and have made their way back to Glenville. Bolen returns six of his top eight performers from last season, with sharpshooter Corey Boulden (7.2 PPG, 44% 3PT) and athletic big man Callum Crossman (5.0 PPG, 3.7 RPG) also back in the mix.

After the departure of All-MEC First Team selection Jalon Knott, the Pioneers brought in a pair of MEC guards to mesh with the productive group coming back. Point Park transfer Kaden Warner, who averaged over 14 points per game for the Pioneers a season ago, looks to be another scoring threat as well as Fairmont State import Jaidyn West.

Glenville State hosts West Virginia in an exhibition on Friday (Oct. 23) in the Waco Oil & Gas Shootout. The Pioneers will open the 2026-27 season at West Virginia State against Virginia Union on November 13th.
