GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State athletes
Kylie Burdick &
Luke Sweigart have been named
GoMart Pioneers of the Week, the GSU Athletic Department announced.
Burdick, a junior out of Cincinnati, Ohio, was crucial in the Pioneers (7-1) overall week, going (5-0) herself with wins over Wheeling, Concord, Fairmont State and Frostburg State twice. The Taylor HS product threw 30 innings over a five day stretch, allowing just one run and 17 hits in those 30 innings of work. She also struck out 20 batters and produced three shutouts with three complete games, lowering her ERA on the season to 1.94. She was also named MEC Pitcher of the Week.
Sweigart, who recently returned to the Pioneers lineup off of an injury, went 5-for-10 with 2 HRs & 8 RBIs in GSU's (3-1) weekend against West Virginia State. The sophomore out of Roswell, Ga. had two games of at least two hits and three RBIs as well as home runs in game one of and four of the series.
