GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State Football Head Coach
Mike Kellar has named
Nelson Brown as the program's next Running Backs Coach ahead of the 2025 season.
Â
Brown, who rushed for over 4,000 yards during his four-year career in stops at Lenoir-Rhyne and California (Pa.), is a familiar face for Coach Kellar. Brown played for two seasons at Lenoir-Rhyne in 2016 and 2017 under Kellar, earning All-SAC Second Team in '16 and All-SAC First Team in '17.
Â
After LRU, Brown played two seasons at Cal (Pa.), garnering All-PSAC West Second Team, Don Hansen Second Team All-Region and Don Hansen All-America Honorable Mention in 2018. He was an All-PSAC West First Team member and Don Hansen Third Team All-Region with another 1,000+ yard season on the ground in 2019. For his career, Brown amassed 55 total touchdowns in four seasons.
Â
Brown is from Salisbury, Md. where he graduated from Wicomico High School in 2015. He spent last year as an assistant football and boy's basketball coach at James M. Bennett High School in Maryland.
Â
Brown inherits a running back room that returns the leading rusher from a year ago,
Zavione Wood, who ran for 692 yards and four touchdowns while snagging 15 receptions for 153 yards as well.
Jeremiah King is also back after appearing in all 11 games last year, carrying the ball 50 times for 184 yards.
