Preview: Volleyball Wraps Up Non-Conference Play & Begins Conference Slate this Week

GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State Volleyball is slated for two games this week and will begin conference play on Friday at home. GSU will travel to California (Pa.) to close out non-conference play on Tuesday (Sept. 23) before welcoming Fairmont State on Friday (Sept. 26).

THE OPPONENTS
CALIFORNIA (PA.)
2025 Season
Coming in with a (9-2) record and beating Fairmont State their last time out, the Vulcans opened the season with a seven-game winning streak.

Olivia Waiseman leads the Vulcans in kills with 151 while Sarah Stephenson has chipped in 129 and Adrianna Favata has tallied 226 assists. On defense, Caroline Mercer has 164 digs and Lindsey Scammell has 44 blocks to lead the team.

FAIRMONT STATE
2025 Season
The Falcons are (10-3) overall and have won five of their last six games.

FSU is led by Joey Borelle, who has 196 kills on the year while Belle DeVall has recorded 230 assists. On the defensive side of things, Josie Skinn has 251 digs and Alexa Martin has 57 blocks.

THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
2025 Season
Currently (7-6) overall and coming off a win in their last performance, the Pioneers are off to their best start since 2022.

Quick Look at The Pioneers
The Pioneers are led by true freshman Kaiya Lian with 111 kills as Mikayla Curry (78), Rita Kelly (76) and Cali Queen (68) have been productive as well. GSU features three setters with over 100 assists on the year - Sadie Hill (157), Irmak Bezek (132) and Elitsa Peneva (132). On defense, Curry leads the team with 35 blocks and Deniz SelenYazar has 24. Queen has been everywhere, leading the team in digs with 139 while Ava O'Hare has recorded 135.
