GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State Women's Soccer is set to open the 2025 season tomorrow (Sept. 7) at Mars Hill in North Carolina. This will be the first meeting ever between the two programs.

THE OPPONENT
MARS HILL
2025 Season
The Mountain Lions had their season opener on Thursday, falling to Young Harris, 4-0, at home. MHU went (1-13-1) overall and (0-10-1) in SAC play lat season but are now under new leadership in Gene Smith, who has had successful stints at California (Pa.), Davis & Elkins and most recently, Bluefield State.
 
Quick Look at The Mountain Lions
Mars Hill scored just three goals in 2024 and Samantha Swinson accounted for one as the junior appeared in all 15 games a year ago. Saga Karlsson Rowa had the lone assist for the Mountain Lions in '24 and is back for her sophomore campaign.
 
THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
2024 Season
The Pioneers had an historic 2024, picking up the most wins in program history overall (7-9-2) and in conference play (4-9-2). Graduate Mackenzie Hendricks and junior Marcelle Stoller earned All-MEC Honorable Mention honors to cap off a stellar year for the Pioneers.

Quick Look at The Pioneers
J.R. Dodson is entering his fifth season as leader of the program, improving from five victories in 2023 to seven in 2024. He returns his top goal scorers from a year ago in Stoller and Valentina Quiroz as well as the team's assists leader, 2023 All-MEC Freshman selection Aitana Viejo. Martina Roig and Emma Morena are also back after scoring two goals apiece in '24.
