GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State athletes
Natalie Barr and
Nick Johnson have been picked GoMart Pioneers of the Week, the GSU Athletic Department announced.
Barr, a junior out of Canvas, W.Va., returned to the track for the Pioneer Indoor T&F team on Saturday (Jan. 17), breaking her own school record and winning the one-mile race with a time of 5:06. Barr also raced to a second-place finish in the 800m run at Muskie Meet #2 on the campus of Muskingum.
Johnson, a repeat recipient of the award, showed his versatility for the 10
th ranked GSU Wrestling team on Friday (Jan. 16) against Tiffin and Fairmont State at Parkersburg High School. The 3
rd-ranked grappler wrestled in both the 197-pound and 285-pound division, decisively winning both bouts by tech fall and major decision. Johnson helped the Pioneers secure a lopsided top 10 win over Tiffin (38-5) and blowout rival Fairmont State (38-9).
