THE OPPONENT
CONCORD
2026 Season
The Mountain Lions come in (4-2) overall and (2-2) in Mountain East Conference play after beating West Virginia State in a slugfest last week, 73-49. Concord is on a two-game winning streak since dropping their first two conference games of the season by a total of four points.

Head Coach
Cody Edwards is in his second season leading the Concord football program. Edwards led the Mountain Lions to a (4-7) first year in 2025. He most recently worked at Western Carolina as the linebackers coach and special teams coordinator. Edwards also has experience at Tusculum, Keiser University, John Carroll and Emory & Henry.

Mountain Lions Offense
Concord features the most high powered offense in the MEC this season, scoring 43.5 PPG and averaging 470.7 total yards of offense per game. It all starts with the league's leader in passing, Devin Kargman, who's thrown for 1,751 yards and 17 touchdowns to just three interceptions. Kargman is completing 60% of his passes, utilizing arguably the best receiving core in the league.

Dom Collins has caught 36 passes (T-2nd MEC) for 741 yards (2nd MEC) and nine touchdowns (1st MEC) to lead the charge. The West Virginia transfer is accompanied by Division 1 journeyman Cordale Russell, who stands at 6-foot-4 and is third in the league in receiving yards (521 yards) with four touchdowns on 19 receptions. The explosive air game is countered with a strong ground game, which is led by UNLV/Texas State transfer Greg Burrell. The 220-pound tailback is fourth in the MEC in rushing touchdowns (5) and has ran for 335 yards on 75 carries.

Mountain Lions Defense
Ar-Terrian Godrey leads the defense for the Mountain Lions with 35 tackles, one TFL and two interceptions. Brodee Rice (32 tackles, 4.0 TFL) and Christian Henderson (31 tackles, 2.0 TFL, 3 pass breakups) have added additional support. Shambre Jackson is fifth in the MEC in tackles for loss with 7.0 while adding 22 tackles. Nick Mercer has caused plenty of havoc in the backfield, recording 5.0 TFL and 16 tackles thus far.

Mountain Lions Special Teams
Zach Moyer handles the punting duties, averaging over 40 yards per punt with a season-high of 62 yards. Christian Torres is 8-for-9 on field goals with a long of 50 yards, which came last week at WVSU.

THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
2026 Season
The Pioneers enter the week (1-5, 0-3 MEC) following last week's defeat to Frostburg State at home. Glenville State is eyeing their first win since Sept. 3 against Millersville.

Pioneers Offense
Quarterback JD Sherrod has thrown for 852 yards and five touchdowns to three interceptions after transferring from Southeast Missouri State this off-season. Caden Harris is second in the conference in receptions (36) with 344 yards while freshman standout Kyree Bunny leads the receiving core in touchdowns with four. Bunny has also added 295 yards of receiving.

Zavione Wood continues to lead the ground game, totaling 230 yards on 66 carries. Sherrod has been using his legs much more of late, upping his season totals to 193 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Pioneers Defense
Jacob Clark has 39 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and three pass breakups to spearhead the defensive charge. Navy transfer Knowel Smith suffered a season-ending injury last week, sidelining the Pioneers leading tackler. Tyson Garrett is now up to 34 tackles and a team-leading 5.5 TFL while Ty Wickliffe is leading the Pioneers in interceptions with two while recording 28 stops from his safety spot.

Pioneers Special Teams
Kody Davis-Warrington is averaging nearly 40 yards per punt and has placed two inside the 20 with a season-long of 55 yards. Brody Layman had a pair of kicks blocked last week, but the senior is still 4-for-7 on the year with a long of 38.
