GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State Men's Basketball and West Virginia will meet Friday (Oct. 23) night in an exhibition game inside the Waco Center for the Waco Oil & Gas Shootout. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. and will be streaming live on Mountain East Conference TV.
A ceremony honoring the life and legacy of beloved benefactor and friend, Ike Morris, will take place prior to player introductions.
The Mountaineers visit Glenville for the first time ever, and it will also be the first time in school history that Glenville State welcomes a Division I power four school to central West Virginia.Â
Glenville State was picked to finish T-2nd in the Mountain East Conference Preseason Coaches Poll earlier in the week after winning 18 games and advancing into the MEC Tournament Semifinals last season. West Virginia is predicted to end the season T-8th with Cincinnati in the Big 12 following Ross Hodge leading the Mountaineers to 21 wins in his first season at the helm.
WVU will be playing their second of three exhibition games, opening the pre-season with an overtime defeat at Maryland on Sunday (Oct. 18). Five-star guard Miles Sadler and the nation's 18th-ranked transfer portal class will make the trip down I-79 for a one of a kind matchup.
The Pioneers returned six of their top eight players from a season ago, including All-MEC Second Team selection
Elijah Redfern (16.4 PPG),Â
Prince Mosengo (12.8 PPG, 8.6 RPG),
Don Colon-Lewis (12.4 PPG, 7.3 RPG) and
Ammar Maxwell (10.8 PPG, 4.2 RPG). Fourth-year head coach
Bob Bolen added Point Park transfer
Kaden Warner, Fairmont State import
Jaidyn West and former Virginia Union Panther
Bol Kuir to the 2026-27 roster to mesh with a strong returning roster.Â
