Preview: Trio of Home Conference Matches Up Next for Pioneer Volleyball

GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State Volleyball returns to the Waco Center for three Mountain East Conference matches this week, beginning with West Virginia Wesleyan on Tuesday (Oct. 6). The Pioneers will welcome West Liberty on Friday (Oct. 9) before closing the week against Wheeling on Saturday (Oct. 10). Tuesday and Friday's matches are scheduled for 7 p.m., while Saturday's contest begins at 2 p.m.

THE OPPONENTS
WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN
2026 Season
West Virginia Wesleyan enters the week with a (6-11, 2-3 MEC) record. The Bobcats will travel to Glenville State on Tuesday (Oct. 6) to take on the Pioneers inside the Waco Center. After falling to Concord and West Virginia State last week, the Bobcats will look to regain momentum as they also begin a three-match conference slate.

Quick Look at The Bobcats
Brooke Axe leads West Virginia Wesleyan offensively with 209 kills, followed by Emily Denison with 184 and MacKenna Halfin with 167. Liliana Beckstedt directs the offense with a team-high 292 assists, while Mia Myers has contributed 212. Lacey Guthrie leads the Bobcats from the service line with 17 aces, followed by Arianna Crowley with 15. Denison anchors the defense with 156 digs, while Zoey Hopkins has collected 118 and Crowley has added 115. Denison also leads Wesleyan at the net with 42 blocks, followed by Axe with 36.

WEST LIBERTY
2026 Season
West Liberty enters the week with a (5-14, 4-1 MEC) record after earning victories over Point Park and Frostburg State last week. The Hilltoppers will look to build on their strong conference start with three road matches, beginning at Wheeling on Tuesday. West Liberty then travels to Glenville on Friday (Oct. 9) to face the Pioneers before closing the week at West Virginia Wesleyan.

Amira DuPree leads West Liberty with 192 kills, followed by Sidney Keni with 140 and Julia Birck with 117. Dakoda Keni orchestrates the offense with a team-high 431 assists and Kaelynn Burge has added 101. Taylor Speake leads the Hilltoppers from the service line with 23 aces as Adrienne Staib has added 21 and DuPree is near with 17. Speake also anchors the defense with 226 digs, while DuPree has collected 199 and Lily Brinker has contributed 144. Birck leads West Liberty at the net with 40 blocks, followed by Staib with 33.

WHEELING
2026 Season
Wheeling enters the week with a (10-6, 4-1 MEC) record and will look to extend its four-match winning streak during a busy week of conference play. Wheeling will make its trip down to Glenville on Saturday (Oct. 10) to take on the Pioneers.

Camryn Matus leads Wheeling offensively with 149 kills and Katie Wilking is next with 88. Autumn King has logged 81 kills and Isabella Faro is at 79. Faith Keifer directs the offense with 234 assists, while Matus has contributed 132 and Brooklyn Brennan has added 119. Faro leads the Cardinals from the service line with 17 aces, followed by Mara McDougal with 12 and Keifer with 10. McDougal anchors the defense with 254 digs, while Faro and Kendall Kupper have collected 124 apiece. Aleithia Wilson leads Wheeling at the net with 42 blocks, followed by Wilking with 40 and Matus with 33.

THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
2026 Season
The Pioneers enter the week with a (9-8, 2-3 MEC) record. Glenville State swept Charleston on Tuesday and Ursuline on Wednesday before falling to Concord on Friday. GSU returns home looking to build on those victories and improve its conference standing with three matches inside the Waco Center.

Gracie Brown leads Glenville State offensively with 186 kills, followed by Juliana Nunez with 121, Kendel Harris with 88, Deniz Selen Yazar with 81 and Mikayla Curry with 76. Irmak Bezek orchestrates the Pioneer offense with a team-high 388 assists, while Elitsa Peneva has added 160. Selen Yazar leads GSU from the service line with 18 aces, followed by Bezek with 14 and Kassie Swink with 10. Swink anchors the defense with 169 digs, while Brown has recorded 97 and Bezek has added 65. At the net, Selen Yazar leads the Pioneers with 34 blocks, followed by Curry with 27 and Brown with 18.
