THE OPPONENT
FROSTBURG STATE
2026 Season
The Bobcats come in (2-3) overall and (1-2) in Mountain East Conference play, most recently falling to Concord on the road, 41-31, last Saturday. Frostburg State opened the season with a loss at Shepherd before defeating Assumption to round out non-conference play.

Head Coach
Eric Wagoner is in his fifth season leading the Bobcat football program, as the former defensive coordinator of Frostburg State has won at least a share of the MEC title in each of the last two seasons. Wagoner also spent 12 seasons at Saint Francis (Ind.) prior to his time at Frostburg State.

Bobcats Offense
The offensive attack begins with QB Jordan Brooks, who has thrown for 1,185 yards, eight touchdowns and six interceptions. Half of his picks came last week in the Bobcats loss at Frostburg, but the redshirt junior gunslinger ranks first in the MEC in completions with 98 and completion percentage at 68% while being third in passing yards and passing touchdowns.

Brooks has had the luxury of having one the league's best receivers all year as well, as Tra'Shaun Timmons is third in the league in receiving yards (329) and fourth in receptions (29). Ray Adames has been a vital No. 2 receiver for the Bobcat offense, hauling in 18 receptions for 311 yards and four scores. Frostburg counters one of the league's top passing offenses with a solid ground game that features two experienced backs in KJ Smothers (89 rushes, 367 yards, 6 TDs) and Owen Doyle (48 receptions, 194 yards, 2 TDs).

Bobcats Defense
Rainer Halveland leads the Bobcats in tackles with 31 and has been one of the top disrupters the league has seen in 2026. The 6-foot, 220-pound edge rusher is first in the conference in tackles for loss (7.5) and third in sacks (3.5). The balanced defense has five other Bobcats with at least 20 tackles, with Tristin Forby making plays from his safety position with 29 tackles, 3.0 TFL and three pass breakups.

The Bobcats rank first in the MEC in total defense (304.4 YPG allowed) and passing defense (169.0 YPG allowed) while ranking second in scoring defense (26.2 PPG) and rushing defense (135.4 YPG allowed).

Bobcats Special Teams
Sam Dominguez is average nearly 42 yards per punt and has five punts of 50 or more yards, including a season-high 62 yarder. Tyler Cook handles both field goals and kickoff, going 5-for-6 on field goals with a long of 37. The punt return unit is averaging over 11 yards per return and the kickoff return team is nearing 20 yards per return.

THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
2026 Season
The Pioneers enter Hall of Fame Weekend (1-4) overall and (0-2) in the MEC. The Pioneers have dropped their last three games, including a Division 1 matchup at Mercyhurst. GSU erased a 16-point deficit last week at Fairmont State, but would fall 31-24.

Pioneers Offense
JD Sherrod returned from injury against the Fighting Falcons, throwing for 241 yards and rushing for three scores on the ground. The Southeast Missouri State transfer is up to 705 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions on the year. Sherrod has three receivers with over 200 yards, led by freshman Kyree Bunny's 271 yards on 13 catches and three TDs. Caden Harris ranks second in the conference in catches with 33 and has added 263 yards. Joziah Gonzalez had his first 100+ yard receiving game of the season last week and has now caught 11 passes for 209 yards and one score.

Zavione Wood has taken over as RB1 for the Pioneers, totaling 215 yards on 59 carries. Sherrod rushed for nearly 100 yards against FSU, and now has 165 yards on the ground. Amir Simmons, Jamir Fox and Graylan Holland have all taken carries as well.

Pioneers Defense
Knowel Smith leads Glenville State defensively, notching 38 tackles, 2.0 TFL, one interception and one QB hurry thus far. Jacob Clark has been a disrupter all year long, totaling 33 tackles, 4.5 TFL, 2.5 TFL and three pass breakups. Anthony Bachinski (4.0 TFL), Donovan Williams (3.5 TFL) and Tyson Garrett (3.0 TFL) have all added resistance from their linebacker spots.

Ty Wickliffe has picked off two passes while Smith and Omar Diallo have both logged a pick this season. Khaliq Johnson leads the team in pass breakups with four and has recovered a fumble at cornerback.

Pioneers Special Teams
Australian Kody Davis-Warrington has taken over punting duties and Brody Layman is now 4-for-5 on the year on field goals with a long of 38. The kickoff return team is averaging over 20 yards a return, including a 60-yard return from Caden Harris.
