THE OPPONENTS
WEST LIBERTY (21–3, 16–1 MEC)
2025–26 Season
Ranked No. 6 in the nation and riding an 11-game winning streak, West Liberty enters Wednesday as the league's top team. The Hilltoppers average 98.5 points per game, the highest mark in the conference, and hold a +16.5 scoring margin. Their style is built on pace and pressure — forcing 20.0 turnovers per game while scoring 24.3 points off those takeaways.

West Liberty shoots 48.8 percent from the field and averages 10.6 three-pointers per contest. Their ball movement stands out, posting 19.0 assists per game and a 1.5 assist-to-turnover ratio. Despite their offensive firepower, recent games have tested them, including narrow wins over Frostburg State (112–108) and No. 8 Fairmont State (96–91). The Hilltoppers defeated Glenville, 94–83, in the first meeting in January.

Quick Look at The Hilltoppers
West Liberty features multiple perimeter threats and balanced scoring throughout the lineup. Myles Montgomery, the reigning MEC Player of the Week, headlines a roster capable of stretching defenses and attacking in transition. The Hilltoppers combine scoring efficiency with defensive disruption, averaging 12.3 steals per game. Controlling tempo and limiting live-ball turnovers will be critical for Glenville in the rematch.

WHEELING (15–8, 10–6 MEC)
2025–26 Season
Saturday's matchup presents both revenge and standings implications. Wheeling sits tied with Glenville at (10–6) in conference play and is one of the few teams to defeat the Pioneers inside the Waco Center this season, earning an 86–80 win in the first meeting.

The Cardinals average 86.1 points per game and shoot 45.1 percent from the field. They attempt nearly 30 three-pointers per contest and convert at a 33.4 percent clip. Wheeling protects the basketball well, committing just 11.8 turnovers per game, and averages 9.0 steals and 3.9 blocks defensively. While their rebounding margin sits slightly negative, their physical interior presence often neutralizes opponents in key stretches.

Quick Look at The Cardinals
Ayden Goll leads Wheeling with 18.1 points per game, followed by Caleb Murray at 15.7. Tee Harris Jr. anchors the interior with 12.7 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest, while Curtis Harrison IV adds efficient inside scoring at nearly 59 percent from the field. Wheeling's combination of perimeter scoring and defensive length makes them one of the conference's most balanced teams.

THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE (16–8, 10–6 MEC)
2025–26 Season
Glenville State enters the week playing its most complete basketball of the season. The Pioneers average 90.1 points per game while holding opponents to 81.3, and own a +3.5 rebounding margin. GSU ranks among the league's most efficient shooting teams at 47.6 percent from the field and 37.7 percent from three-point range.

During the current four-game winning streak, the Pioneers have scored 93, 100, 93, and 112 points, showcasing offensive balance and improved defensive intensity. At home, Glenville stands (8–2) this season.

Quick Look at The Pioneers
Glenville's offense is fueled by versatility and depth. Jalen Knott and Elijah Redfern headline a perimeter attack that stretches defenses, while Prince Mosengo and Don Colon-Lewis anchor the interior on both ends. The Pioneers average 38.8 rebounds per game and 16.2 assists per contest, emphasizing ball movement and second-chance opportunities. Off the bench, Corey Boulden and Rye Gadd provide shooting and energy that sustain momentum for a full 40 minutes.
