GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The final week of Mountain East Conference regular season play has arrived, and Glenville State Men's Basketball enters it with urgency and opportunity. The Pioneers (16–10, 10–8 MEC) will host the University of Charleston on Wednesday (Feb. 25) before welcoming Concord on Saturday (Feb. 28) at the Waco Center in the last two regular season games of the year. THE OPPONENTS
CHARLESTON (17–8, 12–6 MEC)
2025–26 Season
Charleston enters the week riding a five-game winning streak and tied for third in the MEC standings. The Golden Eagles have been dominant at home (11–2) while showcasing one of the league's most efficient offenses. Charleston averages 86.3 points per game while shooting an impressive 51.7 percent from the field and 41.3 percent from three-point range, numbers that rank among the top marks in the conference.

The Golden Eagles share the basketball effectively, averaging 18.2 assists per game with a 1.4 assist-to-turnover ratio, and they control the glass with a +5.8 rebounding margin. Charleston claimed the first meeting between the teams in early December, 94–88, adding another layer of intensity to Wednesday's matchup.

Quick Look at The Golden Eagles
Charleston is anchored by graduate forward Thomas Hailey, the reigning MEC Player of the Week. Hailey averages 14.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game while leading the MEC and ranking second nationally in field goal percentage at 69.1 percent. He is coming off a 36-point performance against Davis & Elkins and continues to be one of the most efficient scorers in Division II basketball. Braden Chapman adds 13.3 points per game and shoots 41.8 percent from three, while Matthew Shelton contributes 12.6 points and leads the team in assists. The Golden Eagles feature multiple perimeter threats, with five players shooting 40 percent or better from beyond the arc, making spacing and defensive discipline critical for the Pioneers.

CONCORD (13–13, 9–9 MEC)
2025–26 Season
Concord enters the week at .500 overall and in conference play, currently tied for sixth in the MEC standings. The Mountain Lions have been competitive throughout the season, averaging 82.7 points per game while allowing 82.6 per contest, reflecting the narrow margins that have defined many of their games.

Concord's identity centers around physicality and rebounding. The Mountain Lions average 40.6 rebounds per game, holding a +5.5 rebounding margin, and rank among the league leaders in blocked shots at 4.5 per game. They also generate offense at the free throw line, converting 77.4 percent of their attempts and averaging 17.4 made free throws per contest. Turnovers, however, have played a role in close outcomes, as Concord holds a -2.9 turnover margin. The Mountain Lions will also be adjusting to the season-ending absence of leading scorer Kraig Gilbert, who averaged 16.3 points per game prior to his injury.

Quick Look at The Mountain Lions
Boubacar Djigo anchors Concord's interior presence, averaging 15.9 points and 13.0 rebounds per game while shooting 57.8 percent from the field. His ability to control the paint and protect the rim is a key component of the Mountain Lions' success. Micah Young (15.2 ppg) and Anfernee Hanna (14.4 ppg) provide perimeter scoring, with Hanna also serving as a consistent presence at the free throw line. Concord's balance and rebounding make them a dangerous opponent, especially in games that become physical and half-court oriented.

THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE (16–10, 10–8 MEC)
2025–26 Season
Glenville State enters the final week of regular season play ranked fifth in the MEC standings, just outside the top four and firmly in contention to avoid the play-in round of the conference tournament. The Pioneers average a high 89.6 points per game while holding opponents to 82.2, good for a +7.4 scoring margin.

Offensive balance and pace have defined Glenville's season. The Pioneers shoot 47.0 percent from the field and 37.2 percent from three-point range, knocking down 11.3 threes per game. Ball security has been another strength, as Glenville owns a +1.3 turnover margin and averages nearly 16 assists per contest. At the Waco Center, the Pioneers have been especially strong, posting an (8–3) home record entering the week.

Quick Look at The Pioneers
Jalen Knott leads the team at 17.5 points per game while also pacing the Pioneers in assists and steals. Elijah Redfern adds 16.0 points per game and provides steady secondary playmaking. Inside, Prince Mosengo averages 12.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per game while shooting nearly 60 percent from the field, and Don Colon-Lewis contributes 12.5 points and 7.3 rebounds with the ability to stretch the floor. With five players averaging double figures and multiple perimeter shooters capable of changing a game quickly, Glenville State looks to defend its home court and build momentum as postseason play approaches.
