A Senior Sendoff to Remember; Glenville State Storms Back to Stun Concord, 90–89

GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Behind 35 points from Jalen Knott and 24 from Prince Mosengo, the Glenville State Men's Basketball team erased a 12-point halftime deficit and stunned Concord, 90–89, in a regular-season finale that came down to the final possession on Saturday (Feb. 28).

1st Half
Concord established its rhythm early from beyond the arc, knocking down threes in bunches and stretching Glenville's defense. Every time the Pioneers chipped the margin down, the Mountain Lions answered with another perimeter shot. Knott kept Glenville within striking distance in the opening half, burying multiple threes and attacking off the dribble. Mosengo battled inside for tough finishes and second-chance opportunities, but Concord's shot making and rebounding edge built separation. A late three just before the halftime horn pushed Concord's lead to 51–39, giving the Mountain Lions their largest cushion of the afternoon and sending Glenville into the locker room down double digits.

2nd Half
Concord pushed the lead to 15 early in the second half, and for a moment it felt like the first-half momentum had carried over. But Glenville stayed composed and began to chip away — led by the two seniors who weren't ready for their final regular-season home game to end quietly. Jalen Knott began to take control offensively, knocking down contested shots and attacking off the dribble. Prince Mosengo imposed his presence inside, finishing efficiently around the rim and cleaning up second-chance opportunities. Every time Concord answered — and Micah Young continued to hit timely shots — the Pioneers responded with poise.

With just over five minutes remaining, Concord still led 87–77. The margin was significant, but the energy inside the Waco Center never dipped. Knott drilled a three to cut into the deficit. Mosengo followed with another strong finish inside. Then with 1:47 remaining, Mosengo buried a massive three to bring Glenville within striking distance. Moments later, Knott connected again from deep to trim the margin to one possession and ignite the crowd. Then came the defining sequence.

Knott was fouled on a three-point attempt in the closing seconds and stepped to the line with everything on the line. He knocked down the first free throw. The second rimmed out. A timeout was called. After the brief pause, Knott returned to the stripe and calmly buried the third, giving Glenville a one-point lead with four seconds remaining. It felt familiar. Just Wednesday night, Knott had made a late free throw to put Glenville ahead — only to see the opportunity slip away in the final seconds. This time, the Pioneers were determined not to let history repeat itself. Concord advanced the ball and put it in Young's hands, but Glenville's defense was locked in. The contest was tight, the pressure relentless, and Young was forced into a rushed three at the horn that that came up short — an airball that sealed it.
