GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State athletes
Nwando Okigbo and
Jalen Knott have been picked
GoMart Pioneers of the Week, the GSU Athletic Department announced.
Okigbo, a sophomore out of Anambra, Nigeria, recorded a double-double in all three games the Lady Pioneers played at the MEC Tournament last week, including 17 points and 25 rebounds, which tied the single game rebounding record in MEC Tournament history, against West Liberty in the Quarterfinals. Okigbo then had 10 points and 10 rebounds versus Fairmont State in the Semifinals before scoring 10 and grabbing 11 boards against UC in the Championship game.
Knott was phenomenal for the Pioneer men's basketball team in his two games played in Wheeling at the MEC Tournament, averaging 21.0 PPG, 3.0 RPG and 1.5 APG. He scored 16 points and drained five three-pointers in the Quarterfinal victory over Charleston before notching 26 points and four rebounds in the Pioneers double overtime defeat to West Liberty in the Semifinals. He had seven made threes against WLU as well.
