GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State athletes
Janae Scott and
Nick Johnson have been tabbed GoMart Pioneers of the Week, the GSU Athletic Department announced.
Scott became the first-ever female T&F Pioneer to earn All-American at the NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend. She placed 14
th out of 18 throwers in the event, logging a throw of 14.18 in her second hurl to be tabbed Second Team All-American. Scott's first heave was 13.30m, but a strong second throw boosted the junior out of Doylestown, Pa. to a top 15 finish.
Johnson became the third Pioneer in program history to be a National Runner-Up, finishing second at 197 pounds and earning his second All-American honor in a GSU uniform. The Parkersburg, W.Va. native coasted through his opening round match before winning via decision in the quarterfinals and by fall in the semifinals. Johnson matched up with the number one seed, Max Ramberg of Augustana, and fell by decision, 4-2.
