CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The greatest season in Glenville State Softball history has to come to a close, as the Pioneers were eliminated from the NCAA DII Women's College World Series today (May 30) by North Georgia, 5-0. The Pioneers, who captured another MEC South Division Regular Season title as well as an MEC Tournament championship, Atlantic Region 1 title and Atlantic Super Regional championship trophy this year, end 2026 with 51 wins.
#7 GSU 0 | #3 North Georgia 5
It was a scoreless tie through the first three innings of the elimination game, as both teams seemed to be sluggish offensively coming out of the two-plus hour rain delay. North Georgia got out of their funk in the fourth, using a single and an RBI double to get on the board first. A couple batters later, Journey Roberts hit a three-run home run down the left field line to make it a 4-0 game.
UNG added onto their lead in the sixth and continued to keep the Pioneer bats down. Glenville State put runners on base in the final innings, but offense came at a premium versus Caroline Conner, who has just one loss in 2026. GSU now closes the storybook season at (51-18) and ends it with an unforgettable run to the school's first-ever NCAA DII WCWS.
