GLENVILLE, W.Va.- Glenville State Women's Soccer will host their second home matchup of the season this week when they play Shawnee State for the first time in program history on Wednesday (Sept. 16). The Pioneers will follow that up with a road game at Concord on Sunday (Sept. 20).

2026 Season
Competing in its first season as a member of the Mountain East Conference, Shawnee State enters the week with a (0-2-1) conference record, (0-3-1) overall, still in search of their first win. Their last loss came at the hands of Concord, which ended in a 6-0 final.

While Shawnee State is still searching for its first victory, the program enters the season under veteran head coach Joe McCauley and is facing the challenges of a transition into a new division and conference. The Bears have the ability to keep matches close, highlighted by a scoreless draw against West Virginia Wesleyan, and will look to net their first goal and first conference win against the Pioneers.
CONCORD
2026 Season
Concord enters the week with a (1-4) overall record and an (1-2) mark in MEC play. The Mountain Lions opened the season with difficult non-conference road matches before beginning MEC action. Before beating Shawnee State in their latest matchup, Concord faced West Virginia Wesleyan at home where they lost 1-0.

The Pioneers enter the week looking to bounce back after a hard-fought 1-0 defeat in their most recent match. Even with the setback, Glenville State has shown improvement throughout the early portion of the season, with a current record of (2-3, 2-1 MEC) and will have two opportunities this week to return to the win column against Shawnee State and Concord.

Glenville State has been competitive in conference play, receiving contributions from throughout the lineup, with the back line and goalkeeping unit consistently keeping matches within reach. With valuable conference points on the line, the Pioneers will look to bounce back and make the most of the two-match slate.
