EMORY, Va. - The Glenville State Women's Soccer team came up short against Emory & Henry on the road Wednesday (Sept. 2) night in their second match of the season, falling 4-1 on the road. Emory & Henry picked up their first win of the 2026 season as Glenville State falls to (0-2).
1st Half
The Wasps got started early, netting their first goal around the 10-minute mark. Glenville could not find an answer and ultimately gave up a second goal shortly after. After an attempted shot by Sofia Jalaksova was saved, the Wasps maintained the 2-0 lead for the rest of the half. In the rough first half, the Pioneers received all 5 fouls, and Emory & Henry had four corner kick opportunities compared to Glenville's zero.
2nd Half
E&H continued their first half dominance as soon as the second stanza began, scoring back-to-back goals six minutes in, and increasing their lead to 4-0. Pioneer forward Solares Solano answered with a goal of her own immediately after, but it was not enough to combat the powerful Wasp offense. Glenville would try their luck on a goal again with a minute remaining, but it was saved by Wasp goalkeeper Bailey Chapman, leading to a 4-1 final score.

All four goals by the Wasps were scored by different players, with Madison Jones, Kalyssa Carter, Liani DeLillio and Siena Booth all netting a goal. Emory & Henry only outshot GSU 11-9, but the Wasps hit their target at a much higher percentage.
Glenville State
The Pioneers only had four of nine shots on target, scoring one in the loss. Goalkeeper Lucia Lopez recorded three saves in the match.
