Cross Countrry Places 3rd at Thundering Herd Invite to Start 2026

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Glenville State Cross Country program opened their 2026 season at the Thundering Herd Cross Country Invite today (Sept. 4), with both the men and women placing third.

Starting off the morning, the women had a strong race. Natalie Barr finished the meet 4th overall with a time of 18:07. Mount Vernon Nazarene transfer Tammy Liplin finished 13th with a time of 19:35 and is now tied for fifth all-time. Morgan Ruggles, Abby Dixon, Kamryn Armstrong and Ella Austin followed shortly behind Liplin in a strong pack. Autumn Meyers, Delilah Meyers, and Marah Erkkinen made their debut as well.

Patrick Reilly also had a stellar race to lead the men with a 7th place finish and a time of 15:30. Nick Pitchford was the second Pioneer for the men to cross the finish line with a time of 16:23. Caden Davis had the third-best time for GSU at 16:33. Behind Davis was Alex Irvin (16:45) and Luke Barr (16:51). Griffin Brunty, Jacob Barthlow, Ethan France, and Elijah Armes finished the day strong for the Pioneers.

The Pioneers will have three weeks to train and prepare before returning to competition on Friday, September 25, at the NCAA Atlantic Region Preview in Kernersville, N.C
