GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Volleyball is home this week for the first time in 2026, hosting a pair of non-conference matches as the Pioneers prepare to welcome WVU Tech on Tuesday (Sept. 8) before playing Virginia Union University inside the Waco Center on Saturday (Sept. 12).

THE OPPONENTS
WVU TECH
The WVU Tech Golden Bears enter Tuesday's matchup looking for their first win of the 2026 season. WVU Tech has faced a difficult opening schedule, including four matches at the On-Set Tournament before competing at the Emileigh Cooper Memorial Classic in Rio Grande. The Golden Bears most recently went (0-4) at the tournament, facing Michigan-Dearborn, Madonna, Georgetown and Defiance. Offensively, Aniston Treadway leads the Golden Bears in kills with 76, while Addison White leads in assists with 132 on their season. Defensively, Ivana Burgos leads WVU Tech with 138 digs while Eden Miller leads in blocks with 18.

VIRGINIA UNION
The Virginia Union Panthers enter Saturday's matchup with a (3-2) record after competing at the Black College Excellence Classic. The Panthers opened the season with a loss to Mount Olive before responding with three victories during the tournament. Virginia Union has shown its offensive potential during the young season, earning three 3-1 wins. The Panthers are led by Head Coach Anetra Sims and enter the season as defending co-champions of the CIAA Northern Division. Jordan Carter leads the Panthers with 38 kills on the season while Maria Pena logs 31. Defensively, Carter also leads the Panthers with 29 digs, while Kennedy Brown matches it at 39.
 
THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
The Pioneers come into the new week with a (4-5) record after competing in five matches last week, including four matches at the Viking Classic in Elizabeth City, N.C. The Pioneers opened the tournament against Belmont Abbey and Kutztown before facing West Chester and Chowan on Saturday. Glenville State finished the weekend on a high note, sweeping Chowan 3-0. Glenville State has shown strong offensive potential throughout the opening weeks of the season, recording 45 kills in their 3-0 sweep of Clinton College. Against Kutztown, the Pioneers posted 57 kills, 53 assists, and nine blocks in a five-set battle. Offensively, Irmak Bezek leads the blue and white with 177 assists on the young season, while Freshman Gracie Brown leads in kills with 90. Defensively, senior transfer Kassie Swink leads the Pioneers with 79 digs, while Mikayla Curry logs 25 blocks on the season.
