Mike Dailey enters his second season on the Pioneer Baseball coaching staff. He is the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator.
Dailey comes to Glenville with over 30 years of baseball experience, both playing and coaching, at the professional and collegiate level and has had numerous players drafted by Major League Baseball.
While he served as the Director of Baseball Operations at NCAA Division I institution Radford University, two players were selected in the Major League Baseball draft (Spencer Horwitz (2019-24th round-Toronto Blue Jays) and Austin Ross (2018-35th round-Philadelphia Phillies). Dailey has also served as the manager of the North Adams SteepleCats of the prestigious New England Collegiate Baseball League and currently holds the career win mark for North Adams as a manager. While there, he coached several of the nation’s top collegiate players and Major League Baseball draft prospects. The league is ranked second in the nation only to the Cape Cod League. During his time at North Adams, Dailey saw several of his players drafted and signed by MLB including Gordon Graceffo (2021-5th round-St. Louis Cardinals), Madison Jeffrey (2021-15th round-Los Angeles Dodgers), Shane Muntz (15th round-Arizona Diamondbacks), Matt Koperniak (2020-Ndfa-St. Louis Cardinals), Jackson Coutts (2020-Ndfa-Washington Nationals), Joe Vranesh (2019-15th round-Los Angeles Dodgers) and Danny Serreino (2019-32nd round-Cincinnati Reds). Dailey was also selected to manage the 2019 All Star Game of the New England Collegiate Baseball League where he managed multiple draft picks in Major League Baseball. He has also managed the New River Valley Cardinals of the Blue Ridge Baseball League to seven league championships in eight years. During the 2019-20 collegiate season, Dailey served as the Assistant Coach/Pitching Coach for the Davis & Elkins baseball program where the Senators finished the year 4-4, including a 6-4 win over #7 nationally ranked Mercyhurst University, prior to the cancellation of spring competition.
At Glenville State, Dailey’s 2021 recruiting class was ranked 2nd in the nation according to Perfect Game. It is the highest ranked recruiting class ever at Glenville State and highest ever for any school in West Virginia. This class helped propel Glenville State to its first ever status as receiving votes in the national polls as well as its first NCAA regional ranking in 2022. In 2020, Dailey’s recruiting class was ranked 19th nationally at Glenville State.
Dailey played at Lake Land College before finishing his career at Illinois. After signing with the St. Louis Cardinals as an undrafted free agent, he returned to the Cardinals organization and was an instructor during their World Series championship year in 2006.
