Nolan Freeman enters his second season as a member of GSU baseball’s coaching staff.
In his first season as the Pioneer's pitching coach, the bullpen was solid throughout the 2023 campaign. Glenville with a 5.39 had the fourth-best ERA in the Mountain East Conference. GSU also gave up the second-fewest hits in the conference as well. Senior, Chase Swain, received his first all-conference nomination.
Freeman is a native of Cleveland Ohio and got his coaching state with the Utica Blue Sox in the Perfect Game League. During his three seasons with the Blue Sox, the bullpen finished top five in ERA, and coached Josh Hatcher who was drafted in the tenth round.
Coach Freeman started his colligate coaching career at Salem University. While at Salem, Nolan was the assistant pitching coach and Director of Baseball Operations. He also would have a stint with the Strasburg Express in the Vally Baseball League. At Strasburg, Nolan coached another MLB draft pick in Garret McMillan. The bullpen, under Freeman, also had a .200 batting average allowed.
In 2019, Nolan graduated from Mercyhurst University. While as a player at Mercyhurst, he would be a part of back-to-back Atlantic Region Champion teams and went to the final four in the 2019 College World Series. The Cleveland Ohio Native started his playing career at Mercyhurst North East. During his stint with Mercyhurst North East, he was named PGCBL pitcher of the week twice and still is currently tied for the most career wins in school history.
Nolan currently resides in Glenville.
