Glenville, W.Va. – The GSC men's basketball team fell on the road Monday night to the Fairmont State Fighting Falcons, 114-93.
Glenville State (0-2, 0-2) would go back and forth with Fairmont State (5-0, 2-0) as it was tied up early 10-10 in the first. However the Falcons would then make a nine point run as they took a 19-10 lead at the 13:24 minute mark.
The Pioneer would make a run of their own as they pulled with four, 34-30 with 5:35 left till halftime but the Falcons then scored the next 11 points to go back up by 15, 45-30.
Fairmont State took a 54-43 lead into halftime.
In the second half the Pioneers again put together a nice run cutting the lead back to just four, 68-64 with 13:17 left on the clock. However the Falcons would match that run and pull away late as they defeated GSC, 114-93.
Glenville State outscored Fairmont State on the inside 48 to 40, however FSU's bench had a big night as they outscored GSC's bench 50 to 14.
The Pioneers had five players score in double figures with
Jon Dunmyer scoring 21 points.
Jalon Plummer chipped in with 19 points while freshman
Darhius Nunn returned to his hometown as a Pioneer for the first time scoring a career high 16 points.
Terry Davis Jr. scored 13 points and
Brett Morris posted a double-double, his second in back-to-back games, as he scored 10 points and had 10 rebounds.
Fairmont State was led by Thomas Winbush as he scored a game high 39 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
Glenville State will hit the road this coming Saturday, November 26
th as they travel to Walsh University for a 3:00 p.m. tip-off with the Cavaliers.Â
