Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneers had four players score in double figures as they picked up their fourth straight win defeating Illinois Springfield at home on Monday afternoon.
The Pioneers (4-3, 2-2) went back and forth with Illinois Springfield (5-6) early in the first half of action however at the 12:05 minute mark GSC went on an 11-4 run as they jumped out to a nine point lead 27-18.
Illinois Springfield would make a late run but Glenville State ended up taking a seven point lead into halftime, 47-40.
In the second half the Pioneers continued their strong play as they built a 14 point lead midway through the second and ended up beating Illinois Springfield, 92-79.
GSC only turned the ball over three times while they forced Illinois Springfield into 10 turnovers and scored nine points off of them. The Pioneers also had a big lift from their bench as they outscored the Prairie Stars bench 31 to 18 in the game.
Jon Dunmyer and
Jalon Plummer each scored 18 points for the Pioneers while
Brett Morris chipped in with 15 points and grabbed a team high eight rebounds.
Terry Davis Jr. scored 14 points while
Darhius Nunn dished out a team high five assists to go along with six points.
Paxton Harmon led the Prairie Stars as he scored a game high 19 points while Zach Steinberg posted a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Glenville State will return to action on Monday, December 19
th as they travel to Davis & Elkins for a 6:30 p.m. tip-off with the Senators. Â
