Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneers went on the road Thursday night and snapped a six game losing streak as they defeated the West Virginia State Yellow Jackets.
Glenville State (9-12, 6-11) had an excellent night shooting the ball as they went 33-of-58 from the floor for 56 percent while West Virginia State (6-17, 3-14) shot 43 percent from field going 28-of-65 as the Pioneers picked up the six point victory, 84-78.
The Pioneers hit the boards hard as they out rebounded the Yellow Jackets on the defensive end 27 to 17 and out rebounded them in the game 40 to 29.
Glenville State outscored West Virginia State in the paint 48 to 28 and the Pioneers bench outscored the Yellow Jackets bench 29 to 21 in the game. Â
There was just one tie and one lead change in the game.
The Pioneers had four players score in double figures with
Terry Davis Jr. leading the way with 23 points.
Jalon Plummer had a nice game off the bench for GSC as he poured in 21 points going 5-of-9 from deep.
Brett Morris recorded his ninth double-double of the season as he scored 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds while
Darhius Nunn tied his season high scoring 16 points and dished out eight assists.
West Virginia State had three players in double figures with Ernest Jenkins leading the way with a game-high 26 points.
Glenville State will travel to the University of Charleston this Saturday, February 11
th for a 4:00 p.m. tip-off with the Golden Eagles.
