Glenville, W.Va. – The GSC Lady Pioneer softball team split a double-header with the Rams of Shepherd University this Sunday in the first weekend of MEC conference play.
In game one the Lady Pioneers saw Shepherd jump out to a 4-0 lead after the first inning. Glenville State would answer back in the bottom of the first as
Mackenzie Smith hit a solo homerun as GSC pulled within three, 4-1.
Shepherd added one run in the third inning and added three runs in the sixth inning as they held a 8-1 lead.
Glenville State would score two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning but came up short falling to the Rams 8-3.
The Lady Pioneers had six hits in the game and committed six errors while the Rams finished with eight hits and committed no errors.
Miranda Cropp went 1-for-2 with two RBI's and scored a run, Cropp also pitched 5.0 innings allowing four runs, five hits, and had three strike outs.
In the second game Glenville State again saw Shepherd take an early lead after one as the Rams led 1-0.
Shepherd would add to their lead in the top of the third as scored three runs on two hits as they built a 4-0 lead over GSC.

Miranda Cropp as the Lady Pioneers trailed 4-1.
Glenville State then took the lead after a great sixth inning as they scored four runs leading Shepherd 5-4. Shepherd had a chance in the seventh with the bases loaded and just one out but an
Mackenzie Smith made an acrobatic catch and turned it into a double-play as Glenville State took game two, 5-4.
Miranda Cropp went 2-for-3 with an RBI while
McKenzie Edmonds and two RBI's in the contest.
Ally Brown pitched 5.0 innings allowing six hits, three runs, and struck out two batters.
Glenville State (6-10, 1-1) will return to action tomorrow Monday, March 20
th as they host Fairmont State University at 3:00 p.m. from the Sue Morris Sports Complex.
