Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneers softball team split a double-header on Monday afternoon at the Sue Morris Sports Complex with Fairmont State University.
In the first match-up GSC would really struggle. Fairmont State would score two runs in the first off of a homerun and after that it was all FSU's pitcher Rachel Bias as she pitched a perfect game allowing no hits, no runs, and struck out two batters.
Miranda Cropp was on the mound for GSC as she went all 7.0 innings allowing five hits, two runs, and had three strike outs.
In game two, GSC found their selves trailing FSU 4-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh however
Hannah Wright hit a two run homerun for the Lady Pioneers as they tied it up at 4-4 and sent it into extra innings.
Both teams went scoreless in the eighth inning. GSC then ended the game in the bottom of the ninth, after a base hit by
Kim Ellis and a stolen base, Mackenzie Edmonds would hit a single scoring Ellis as GSC picked up the 5-4 victory.
Miranda Cropp went 2-for-4 with an RBI and scored a run while
Raven Greer also went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Tori Ward pitched 2.0 innings allowing just one hit and struck out two batters.
GSC (7-11, 2-2) will return to action tomorrow Tuesday, March 21
st as they host non-conference opponent the Senators of Davis & Elkins at 2:00 p.m.
