Glenville, W.Va. – The GSC Lady Pioneer softball team split a double-header with the Blue Knights of Urbana University on Saturday afternoon.
Urbana opened up game one as they took a 3-0 lead. GSC then scored a run in top of the second as
Tori Ward homered, her second of the year, making it 3-1.
However after that the Lady Pioneers only managed five more hits while Urbana scored five unanswered runs took claim the victory 8-1.
Glenville State finished with six total hits and committed three errors while Urbana finished with 10 hits in game one.
Ally Brown went 2-for-3 while Tori Ward went 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Tori Ward pitched 3.0 innings allowing eight hits, seven runs, and struck out two batters.
Glenville State got off to a great start in game two as they scored three runs in the first inning and five more in the second inning as they cruised to a 10-1 win over Urbana in five innings.
GSC had their bats going in game two as they finished with 12 hits.
McKenzie Edmonds went 2-for-2 and scored two runs while
Ally Brown went 3-for-3 with two RBI's and scored three runs. Also for the Lady Pioneers
Mackenzie Smith went 2-for-3 with four RBI's and scored two runs while
Raven Greer had three RBI's and
Cassidy Taylor had an RBI. Â
Ally Brown picked up the win on the mound as she allowed four hits and struck out two batters.
Glenville State (9-19, 4-8) will return to action on Sunday, April 2
nd as they travel to Notre Dame College for a double-header at 1:30 p.m.
